Installation
This guide walks you through installing Vimeify (free) and Vimeify Pro plugins.
System Requirements
Before installing Vimeify, ensure your environment meets these requirements:
WordPress Requirements
- WordPress Version: 5.8 or higher
- PHP Version: 7.3 or higher (8.0+ recommended)
- MySQL Version: 5.6 or higher
- HTTPS: Recommended for secure API communication
Server Requirements
- PHP Extensions: cURL, JSON, mbstring
- File Uploads: Enabled in PHP configuration
- Memory Limit: 256MB or higher recommended
- Max Execution Time: 300 seconds or higher for large uploads
Vimeo Requirements
- Vimeo Account: Free or paid Vimeo account required
- Internet Connection: For API communication with Vimeo
Installing Vimeify (Free)
Choose one of the following installation methods:
Method 1: WordPress Plugin Directory (Recommended)
The easiest way to install Vimeify:
- Log in to your WordPress admin panel
- Navigate to Plugins → Add New
- Search for "Vimeify"
- Click Install Now on the Vimeify plugin
- Click Activate once installation completes
You should see a new "Vimeify" menu item in your WordPress admin sidebar.
Method 2: Upload ZIP File
If you downloaded Vimeify from WordPress.org:
- Download the plugin ZIP file from WordPress.org
- Log in to your WordPress admin panel
- Navigate to Plugins → Add New → Upload Plugin
- Click Choose File and select the ZIP file
- Click Install Now
- Click Activate Plugin once installation completes
Method 3: Manual Installation (Advanced)
For developers and advanced users:
- Download and extract the plugin ZIP file
- Upload the
vimeifyfolder to/wp-content/plugins/via FTP/SFTP - Log in to WordPress admin
- Navigate to Plugins
- Find "Vimeify" in the list and click Activate
TIP
After activation, you'll see a welcome notice prompting you to configure the API connection.
Installing Vimeify Pro
Vimeify Pro is a premium add-on that extends the free version with advanced features.
Prerequisites
Before installing Vimeify Pro:
- ✅ Vimeify (free) must be installed and activated first
- ✅ You must have a valid Vimeify Pro license
- ✅ You must have downloaded the Pro plugin ZIP from your account
Important
Vimeify Pro requires the free Vimeify plugin to be installed and activated. It will not work standalone.
Installation Steps
- Ensure Vimeify (free) is already installed and activated
- Download the Vimeify Pro ZIP file from your account dashboard
- Navigate to Plugins → Add New → Upload Plugin
- Click Choose File and select the
vimeify-pro.zipfile - Click Install Now
- Click Activate Plugin
Activating Your License
After installing Vimeify Pro, you must activate your license:
- Navigate to Vimeify → Settings → License
- Enter your license key (found in your purchase confirmation email)
- Click Activate License
- You should see a success message confirming activation

TIP
License keys are site-specific. If you're moving sites or using multiple domains, contact support to transfer your license.
Verifying Installation
After installation, verify that Vimeify is working correctly:
Check Plugin Status
- Go to Plugins page
- Verify "Vimeify" is listed and activated
- If using Pro, verify "Vimeify Pro" is also listed and activated
Check Menu Items
You should see the following in your admin sidebar:
Vimeify Menu:
- Dashboard
- Videos
- Categories
- Galleries
- Upload Profiles
- Upload Video
- Settings
Pro adds:
- Additional integration options in Settings
- Form field types (WPForms, Gravity Forms)
- ACF field type
Check Connection Tab
- Navigate to Vimeify → Settings → Connection
- You should see the API connection form
- Status shows "Not Connected" (this is normal for new installations)
Next Step
After installation, proceed to API Configuration to connect to your Vimeo account.
Multisite Installation
Vimeify is compatible with WordPress Multisite networks.
Network Activation
Option 1: Activate on Individual Sites (Recommended)
- Visit each site's admin
- Install and activate Vimeify normally
- Configure API credentials per-site
Option 2: Network Activate
- Go to Network Admin → Plugins
- Click Network Activate on Vimeify
- Vimeify will be active on all sites
- Configure API credentials on each site individually
TIP
Each site in your network can have its own Vimeo API credentials and settings. This allows different departments or clients to use their own Vimeo accounts.
Pro on Multisite
For Vimeify Pro on multisite:
- Install Pro on each site individually
- Each site requires its own license activation
- Or use a Developer license for unlimited sites
Migration from Legacy Plugin
From Video Uploads for Vimeo
Vimeify includes a migration tool specifically for users of the legacy "Video Uploads for Vimeo" plugin. If you're upgrading:
- Install Vimeify normally
- Activate Vimeify
- Vimeify will automatically detect and migrate your data
- Deactivate and delete "Video Uploads for Vimeo"
All your videos, settings, and galleries will be preserved during the migration.
